Council of Europe Development Bank: Finland to receive €50m loan to build educational infrastructure in Kuopio

ISSN: 2004-9641

The Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), a multilateral development tasked with helping job creation, and improve social infrastructure in its member states, earlier this year approved a €50m loan to Finland to co-finance the building of a new school and several day-care centres in the city of Kuopio.

The loan has been made under the Public Sector Financing Facility (PFF) to complement the City’s Strategy 2030, with the beneficiaries being children attending day-care and schools, pupils, teaching staff, young families, individuals attending cultural events and libraries, users of sport facilities, migrants, and refugees.

Finland became a member of the CEB in 1991, and owned 1.25% of the share capital in the Bank. The CEB has previously co-financed projects in Espoo, Tampere, and Turku.

More information on the loan with regard to Kuopio can be found on the CEB’s website here.
